Snowboarding in Sweden

Riksgränsen 7 Day Camp

7 RIDERS

£949 or £649 Guiding only

30th March - 6th April 2025 - Level 2 - 4 Spaces

Look no further if you want to tick off an experience filled week that will provide you with memories to last a lifetime.

Our base camp is Riksgränsen in Sweden. A frontier vibe town 200km north of the Arctic Circle at the border with Norway. It's steeped in Snowboard folklore having hosted some of the worlds best riders as they searched for a unique riding experience under the northern lights.

The course and terrain provides a mix of gentle natural in-bounds pistes with easy access off-piste within Riksgränsen to more expansive backcountry exploring via a splitboard with the aid of Ski-doo's or hire cars.

Due to the northerly coastal location, you can expect a variety of weather conditions with a common mix of lovely bluebird days to the occasional misty spells. With this in mind, we plan a very flexible itinerary as we see what each day offers.

To allow us ultimate flexibility in chasing the best snow conditions we look to hire cars and share the cost across the group. That would typically be 3 vehicles for a group of 8 including the guide.

Accommodation
Riksgränsen hotel offers a variety of accommodation options and restaurant options. We book a three person self-catering apartment for two people creating a more relaxed living space. You can also book your own room within the hotel, but please discuss the costs of this option when paying your deposit, as we can transfer your booking to guiding only. There is a local supermarket within walking distance that provides anything extra you might need.

Optional Heli-boarding & Skidoo
For the optional heli, we use Mountain Guide Travel. We recommend the 5 drop day trip, that works out to be around £160 per drop. To avoid disappointment we recommend you let us know your intention to fly when you pay your deposit. That way we can help arrange a reservation. If you haven't flown before we highly recommend this experience.

Skidoo to Splitboard
This is a very cost effective and exciting way to explore the vast backcountry options on the border of Sweden and Norway.
Ski-doo's are banned in Norway, so we can park on the border, miles from any resort and hike for our own fresh lines. We aim to do 1 or 2 days of this depending on weather and snow conditions.

This course includes:
7 Nights 2 person shared self-catering apartment
6 Days with an off-piste certified guide
1 set of bed linen per person for the self-catering apartment

If you have any questions on this course, please review our travel guide, explanation of the course levels, kit list's or FAQ's and then feel free to drop us a line.

What the riders think...

"Our trip to Riksgransen with Maverix was an awesome adventure I won't soon forget. While the resort itself is small and the weather wildly variable there was always a slew of options available for activities that ensured things never got dull. Some highlights of the trip have to be the heliboarding (something everyone should do at least once as it is an incredible experience that offered some of the longest and best runs I've ever had) and the snowmobile adventure across a frozen lake, as well as our multiple splitboard missions to ride the varied terrain Riks has to offer. Besides this there was also great riding to be had in resort both on and off piste and some great little cliff drops to be found - all in all an extremely memorable trip for those with an adventurous spirit!"

What feedback am I able offer as a first time user of Maverix Snowboarding? For Riksgransen you will need a decent level of fitness and you will need to be a competent rider. As an older snowboarder I’ve been around the block in terms of snowboarding experiences; tuition focused camps, guide focused camps, (and everything in between).
With the prerequisite criteria’s in mind I believe I am able to make a sound judgement in relation to what is or what is not a decent set up.

All that being said let’s get back to Maverix! Would I use them again? Hell yes, I already am. Booked on a camp for next year. Nothing much left to say, other than I was so tired after all the additional activities crammed into the camp that I probably need to book another holiday to get over the holiday. I’ve just had an awesome trip, awesome group, awesome organisation AND all done within a safe and professional environment.

Please make sure you read and understand the riding levels required for this course, as those riders who do not meet the required standards may be unable to complete their course and will not be offered a refund. Accommodation is a 3 person apartment shared between 2 people. Single rooms are available at extra cost. Our Swedish adventures are not recommended for under 18's.
