Let's start to explore. Stepping beyond our other powder hunter courses. The Level 1 course is an ideal introduction and solid progression for aspiring or seasoned splitboarders looking to venture that little bit further.
We've found that the traditional ski focused mountain guide approach to hunting for powder often neglects the equipment capabilities and the right kind of terrain that suits a snowboarders style of riding.
Drawing upon over 10 years of exploring the Zillertal Valley, we'll build your skills and capabilities to allow you to confidentially attack the fun in resort terrain. Once those areas are dry and the core riding skills are in place, it'll be time to up the adventure.
Travelling further and higher, we'll work on your snow knowledge and avalanche safety skills to allow you to travel more confidently out of bounds.
All participants should ideally own their own splitboard and compatible splitboard crampons or arrive with a hired splitboard and crampons as there are limited hire options within the resort.
If you have any questions about this course, please review our travel guide, explanation of the course riding levels, kit list's or FAQ's and then feel free to drop us a line.
"It's has been my second year snowboarding and splitboarding with James. James is the best snowboard and splitboard instructor and mountain guide, always knowing how to build up my skills and confidence step by step (most importantly safely and having fun), and always tries the best to find the best pow runs for the group. I've had the best pow rides ever this year on this Macedonia splitboarding trip, 16.5km fresh pow runs, 4715m of descent, the best!"
"An amazing week. The snow report hadn't been great but James knew where all the good stuff was hidden, as the drone footage shows! There is just so much to explore here if you're willing to earn the turns. I also enjoyed developing mountain awareness - getting involved in the pre-planning, discussing snow/weather conditions and strategies, picking a good skin track, etc. I booked another trip with James later in the season and am returning to Mayrhofen for another week's splitboarding this season - I guess that says it all."
Please make sure you read and understand the riding levels required for this course, as those riders who do not meet the required standards may be unable to complete their course and will not be offered a refund. Our Austrian splitboard adventures are not for under 18's.
