Korua Transition Finder Snowboard Review

It’s tough not to want to ride this board all the time. It chews up piste like a race board yet is agile and fogiving enough to enable fast shredding through the tightest of trees and boosting of side hits like a pro. Plus it can slay pow like a board twice its size. It will genuinely make you feel a lot better than you actually are.

I have clients on the Cafe Racer, Pencil, Dart and Stealth and they’ve all been raving. I’ve personally seen the board uplift riders confidence and board control considerably. It’s a no brainer that I’ll keep shredding on this stick and most likely expand to other boards in their range.

Product Overview

Piste — 8.5/10

As soon as I got on this board it felt stable and controllable at all speeds. On previous boards I’d been struggling on piste to keep up with bulkier riders. This board enabled me to keep up and overtake them with ease. A surprising bonus for a board not overly marketed as a piste slayer. It makes me wonder how amazing the more carving centric models would be.

It has a nice torsional flex that enables easy foot steering yet a solid longitudinal flex where I presume it derives it’s great carving capabilities. It just wants to carve and eat up the pistes at speed.

Even with the setback and short kick to the tail switch riding is easy. For shorter radius turns on steep terrain switch can feel easier than normal due to the small tail. For tighter short radius turns in your normal stance you’ll need to open up the turn shape to accommodate the larger nose volume.

Powder — 8.5/10

It floats in pow with ease. The large nose volume combined with the setback means it requires very little effort to float the board. You can pretty much ride the board in a normal stance with maybe a 10% bias to the back foot, if that.

It can handle the usual open faces with ease, but also delivers when it gets tight, technical and changeable in trees and rocky areas.

Due to holding such a solid edge piste to pow transitions where you would like to air or spin are comfortable and feel awesome.

Freestyle 7/10

It’s all in the name, so it loves the usual piste side hits and spins. Ideally, you’ll be looking to avoid switch landings and it can feel a little awkward with the disparity between nose and tail volume, but that doesn’t mean it’s not doable. I just found it tough to dial them on green and blue sized jumps.

Landing 360’s is a dream, so that’s probably the aim for most riders. Normal airs, grabs and methods all feel sweet. Because it’s such a stable board it feels strong and solid when you land in a normal stance.

It can also handle simple ride on rail and boxes, but tracking in switch for these can feel tough as the board needs a little space to perform. Most likely cool for wider open park setups where you have more time between rail features. I’ve not tested it on side hit rails, but that’s really not whats it’s made for.

Other Elements

It’s not the lightest board in the world. I only really noticed it’s weight when I picked up other boards at the same time. This thing is you could argue that you need some weight to allow it to charge and carve at higher speed without excessively chattering and support the weight of bulkier riders.

As with any board you’ll need to keep on top of the waxing. These boards are gonna go fast, so you’ll want to keep the base topped up with the best waxes.

It’s refreshing to have such a simple design. You can only get the standard board with a white top sheet and red base. It’s super distinctive and allows for easy sticky placement. Although you’ll most likely want to buy a vinyl machine so you can produce all your favourite brands logos in one colour.
