MAYRHOFEN - 7 NIGHTS

Austrian Powder Hunters

MORE THAN JUST A SNOWBOARD HOLIDAY
Powder Hunters is a small-group winter holiday for experienced snowboarders who want to explore more of the mountain and make the most of whatever the conditions have to offer.

The focus is on looking beyond the obvious — searching out fresh snow, interesting terrain and the less-travelled parts of the resort rather than simply ticking off every slope on the piste map.

When the snow is good, we'll be looking for the freshest and easiest-access powder we can find. When the mountain offers something different, we'll switch gears and make the most of that instead.

From fresh tracks and natural terrain to fast piste runs, snowpark sessions and exploring different areas of the resort, the aim is to find the best riding available and have a great week doing it.

And the experience doesn't stop when the lifts close. Good food, après-ski, the hotel, the town and the random stuff that happens along the way are all part of the Maverix week.

  • EVERY DAY IS A NEW BEGINNING - The stoke starts well before arrival in resort. In the days leading up to the trip, we'll keep an eye on the weather, snow and what's happening around the resorts. The group chat starts to fire up with ideas, getting everyone excited and starting to think about what the week might look like.

Once we're in resort, each day is shaped around what suits the crew and the conditions. Hopefully that means chasing fresh snow and exploring some untouched off-piste. Other days might be about a more snowboard-focused shred across the nine local resorts — chasing those endless, roller-filled blue and green runs that create a playground for riders, or finding those open fireball reds that let the team get their carve on.

Powder is a big part of what we come looking for, but it's not the only reason we're here. The aim is to make the most of whatever the mountain has to offer and have a great time riding it together.

It's not about following a fixed itinerary or being told where to go. Everyone contributes to the conversation, with local knowledge, experience and the conditions helping the crew work out the best options for each day.
  • IS POWDER HUNTERS FOR YOU? - Powder Hunters is aimed at snowboarders who are comfortable riding for a full day and are willing to explore and enjoy all that the mountain has to offer.

The key dynamic is that you're stoked to ride whatever the conditions throw at you and be part of a crew that's going to make it challenging and fun every day. Sure, you should be confident riding ungroomed snow and varied terrain, as that'll mean you can access some of the most enjoyable and secret spots, but you don't have to be a contender on the Freeride World Tour.

The focus is deleting the crowds, even when we're shredding in the resort — finding quieter runs, exploring different terrain and making the most of whatever looks good on the day. If you're into the Maverix approach and fancy pushing your riding into some new terrain, Powder Hunters could be right up your street.

Take a look at some of the previous Maverix media and check out the rider levels before booking to make sure Powder Hunters is the right fit for you.
  • IT'S BETTER WITH A CREW - There's something different about riding with a small group of people who are all up for the same thing. One person spots a line, another finds a side hit, someone else wants to smash the boardercross — and before you know it, the day has taken on a life of its own.

Powder Hunters isn't about everyone riding exactly the same way. It's about bringing different riders together who are up for exploring, having a laugh and making the most of the mountain.

Some days might be about hunting fresh snow. Others might turn into a full-on piste shred, a session in the park, a bit of flatland or a ridiculous challenge that nobody planned on doing when they got out of bed.

That's where the small group really works. Seven riders means there's enough variety to keep things interesting, but still small enough for everyone to ride together and become part of the action.
  • YOUR MAVERIX HOST - Your Maverix host is there throughout the week to help the crew make the most of Mayrhofen and the surrounding resorts.

With years of experience riding the area, Maverix knows the resorts, the terrain and the places that are worth exploring. That local knowledge helps the crew work out where looks good, what might be worth chasing and how to make the most of the conditions.

But it's not about following someone else's itinerary. The crew decides what looks good, what sounds fun and where we want to head next. Maverix helps bring the options together and takes care of the practical stuff along the way.

From lift passes and equipment hire to transport, restaurants, après-ski and ideas for when we're not riding, Maverix is there to help keep the week running smoothly.

You bring the board. Maverix helps take care of the rest.
  • FOLLOW THE MOUNTAIN, NOT THE PLAN - No two days in the mountains are the same. Weather, snow, visibility, temperature and even the energy of the crew can change what looks like the best option.

When the snow is fresh, we'll go looking for it. That might mean exploring natural terrain or chasing those hidden stashes that make a great powder day.

But Powder Hunters isn't about forcing a powder mission when the mountain has other ideas. Sometimes the best riding is on the piste — finding quieter runs away from the crowds, hunting out rollers and side hits, getting creative with flatland and buttering, or spending some time in the park.

The plan is to have a plan — but not be afraid to change it.
  • MORE THAN THE RIDING - The best snowboard trips aren't just about the riding. They're about the people you ride with, the places you discover and all the stuff that happens in between.

The first lift, the perfect run, the unexpected powder stash, the ridiculous challenge someone comes up with, the shit-weather mission that somehow becomes one of the best days of the week. Then there's the food, the beers, the stories and the laughs when everyone relaxes over a great evening meal. Some of the best memories happen when the boards come off.

Powder Hunters is about putting all of that together — a week in the mountains with a great crew of snowboarders, making the most of every day and seeing where the adventure takes you.

Come for the riding. Leave with a week you'll remember.
