Snowboarding is a sport where there's always something to work on. Whether you're looking to improve your technique, learn new tricks, build confidence in the park or simply become more comfortable and capable on your board, regular coaching can make a real difference.
Maverix group coaching gives riders the opportunity to keep developing their riding throughout the year, with sessions covering freestyle, flatland and groundtricks, piste performance and specialist mogul riding. The aim is to give riders the right environment to try new things, build confidence and keep progressing.
Experience & Qualifications
With over 25 years of riding and coaching experience and International Snowsport Teacher Diploma qualifications 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 🇦🇹, Maverix brings a high level of technical knowledge and a broad range of drills, exercises and coaching approaches to each session.
The small groups allow the coaching to remain focused while giving riders the chance to learn and progress alongside others.
Prices exclude lift pass. These sessions are open to all riders at recreational standard, i.e. be able to control speed, confidently link turns & use a poma/button lift/chairlift. We ask that children under the age of 18 years be accompanied by an adult, to enable supervision at all times. Missed sessions cannot be refunded or moved to future dates.
A relaxed, small-group session with a strong social vibe, focused on developing foundational and creative board control skills.
Each session typically focuses on a particular rotation, press or butter, which can then be combined into more technical and impressive groundtrick combinations or transferred directly into tricks in the snowpark.
These sessions tick a lot of boxes for riders. Alongside the fun and community vibe that comes from having regular days and times to ride, they've helped riders develop skills that directly improve their overall piste riding, while also supporting progression in the park. Better board feel, balance and overall board control mean riders can approach new tricks with greater confidence and safety.
Regular, small-group park sessions with a progressive approach to developing freestyle skills, confidence and creativity.
Groups are typically shaped around rider ability and what people want to work on, with higher and lower-level sessions providing a more comfortable and appropriate environment to learn. Having the same coach and a regular crew of riders dipping in and out of the sessions helps build trust and a social connection, making it easier to feel less self-conscious, try new things and keep progressing.
Each session combines demonstration, inspiration and practical coaching, with a side dish of creativity that makes every session a little different.
Most sessions combine a mix of kicker and jib-focused work with smaller feature challenges that encourage riders to look at the park differently — taking more creative lines or trying more unusual tricks.
Progression isn't left to luck, however. Riders work through specific drills and movements to build the right skills and confidence before putting them together and attempting the trick for real. The aim is to build skills and confidence in a fun, structured way, helping riders progress safely while enjoying the process of learning new tricks.
Develop your riding with focused coaching on the fundamentals that make everything else on a snowboard feel more natural.
These sessions are designed for riders who want to improve the quality of their riding rather than simply learn another trick. We'll work on movement, balance, edge control, pressure and board performance, helping you understand how and why the snowboard responds to your movements.
The coach is an active participant in the session, riding alongside the group and identifying key weaknesses or individual goals early on. From there, we'll use a series of fun games, drills and exercises to work on those areas in a more creative, team-oriented way.
The sessions are deliberately small with limited availability, making each one a focused opportunity to work on your riding, experiment with new ideas and benefit from the energy of the group.
Ultimately, it comes back to helping you look and feel great on snow. The stronger your riding fundamentals become, the easier it is to adapt, progress and enjoy whatever you want to do on a snowboard.
Small-group coaching for riders looking to develop the skills needed to ride more technically challenging terrain. Moguls require a greater level of adaptability and board control, coupled with the confidence to turn when required to find a flow through the bumps.
These sessions break down the tactics and techniques into manageable steps. We'll work on movement, timing, line choice and board control through a series of drills and exercises, gradually building the skills needed to ride the bumps with more confidence and consistency. Video analysis from multiple angles, including footage of the coach following you through the moguls, is a valuable tool for fine-tuning timing and tactics and helping achieve a positive result.
The sessions are deliberately kept to small numbers, allowing the coaching to stay focused and giving riders enough space to work on what they find challenging. They're aimed at riders who are up for the challenge of going from surviving to thriving in some of the most technical terrain on the mountain.
Mogul sessions take place during the summer months on dedicated Mogul Days at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead.
